Electronic mosquito zapper circuit?

On page 23 of Camping World's Summer 1999 catalog, item F.

Got mosquitos? Kill them on contact with your own Personal Bug Zapper (TM).

Two AA batteries (included) in the handle electrify the metal grid with 3V to zap bugs in mid-air...


Answer:
The down side of these (and all bug-zappers) is they don't really get the bugs you want them to. They use light (UV) as an attractant. The problem is I can't think of a single bitting bug that is attracted by light. They are attracted by smells.

There is a new mosquito zapper that should be on the market soon, that uses the right smell to attract them, and just them, and then zap them. (as I recall the attractant for them is CO2)
