Answer:
The down side of these (and all bug-zappers) is they don't really get
the bugs you want them to.
They use light (UV) as an attractant. The problem is I can't think of a
single bitting bug that is attracted by light. They are attracted by
smells.
There is a new mosquito zapper that should be on the market soon, that
uses the right smell to attract them, and just them, and then zap them.
(as I recall the attractant for them is CO2)
