Question:
Hopefully someone can recommend something for me. With all
the rain we have had here in the Carolinas, mosquitos are getting very very
bad. I live on a top floor 3 story apartment with 2 cats that love to go out on
the patio in the late afternoon early evening. Of course, they will not allow
me to shut the door behind them so I leave the sliding door cracked. The
mosquitoes come in in droves! I am getting bit everywhere! I have used that
Deep Woods OFF repellent but when the cats come back inside they are all over
me, rubbing the areas of my legs where I have sprayed the OFF. I am uneasy
about this and wonder if there is any insect repellent for humans that is safe
or am I OK with using the OFF. The cats normally rub against my legs and one of
my cats even licked an area on my leg where I have sprayed. I immediately
stopped her in fear of poisoning.
Answer:
-Is there any way to prevent the mosquitos from getting inside in such large
numbers? For example, do you have a screen door? If not, that might be a
good investment. What about mosquito netting around the patio. I don't
know your setup, so that might not be practical.
-YOu could try citronella candles outside or one of those mosquito zapper
machines. Here's a site that sells natural repellants for pets. Not sure if
they carry anything for humans but you could always call their 800 number,
maybe they would know of something. You could also eat garlic. That's
supposed to help.
