insect repellent

Question:
It's my understanding that I shouldn't use normal insect-repellent on my baby. Do any of those "natural" repellents work, and are they safer? We like going on picnics for dinner, and the mosquitoes are out in full force here...

(I know some people will suggest Skin So Soft, but I haven't been impressed by it in the past.)

Answer:
-I was at wal mart last night and found something that might be of interest..

It is a citronella (sp?) bracelet It can be worn on the ankle of very small children (and it doesn't even have to touch the skin)

They were like a buck, and worked for up to 100 hours..

You might look into something like that. It would be fine to sit in the carrier or on a blanket near the baby, etc..

Or just get citronella candles and lug those around everywhere..

-I swear by the UV suits!

-I bought some repellant last year that the active ingrediant is citronella oil. It is called Natural Causes and is 6% citronella. It seems to work fine for the mosquito magnets in my house. It doesn't smell strongly of repellant. It reminds me of lemons but of course it is citronella scent. I think I bought it at Walmart or Menards. Here is the website www.citrusmagic.com . The bugspray is on sale 3 bottles for 12.87 and you get a fourth free. I don't know what the shipping is. Now if I could just find a waterproof spray to use around the hot tub.
